What you need to know if hiring a skip for the first time

  • Make sure the skip you hire will be large enough for your project. It will cost you more to hire two small skips than one larger one.
  • The skip hire period is two weeks.
  • Think about where your skip will go. If it needs to be sited on the road or grass verge outside your house, you are likely to need a permit from your local council. Some councils require you to arrange this yourself, whereas others allow us to arrange the permit on your behalf.

  • If your skip will be sited on the road, it may need lights and cones to increase its visibility. Ask us for details.
  • If the skip lorry requires access over your driveway, it is your responsibility to make sure the surface can withstand the weight of the lorry.
